About

I’m Crystal Thomas. I live and work on Larrakia Country in Darwin.

I am a creative practitioner, mentor, and formerly the founding director of the NFP, social enterprise North. I am now expanding my practice to become a dance movement therapist.

I have been a dancer/mover my whole life, and this embodied experience of the world has been a vital element of my inner world.

As a practitioner I am inspired by movement as a vehicle to explore our stories and create community, healing and social change. I am drawn to narrative therapy and the power of reauthoring storylines. For me, it is so important to continue to play. It’s here we find we can move together through challenging times.

My career has been underpinned by a belief in the transformative capacity for creative expression to move and transform people. This belief was first explored within roles as an interior designer; recognising the influence of spaces in shaping collective and individual experience. The development of North as a NFP stemmed from a desire to bridge the gap between remote Aboriginal textile designers and the Australian design market. Underpinning the ethos of this organisation was a steadfast belief that the process of collaboration and creative expression can generate meaningful and transformative experiences across cultures.

Having recently completed a Diploma of Dance Movement Therapy, I’m now expanding my skills through a BA of Counselling and Psychotherapy.

This website is a place for me to collect, curate and generate my inspiration and influences for movement, expression and being with the body as my practice evolves. I am delighted to share it all with you.
